The end of summer…..

Today is just some ramblings from me.  I haven’t posted for a while and I am being rather thoughtful today.

Here it is, the end of summer.  Kids are back in school, Labor Day around the corner.  I am feeling a little nostalgic.  Our kids are all grown with kids of their own.  No first day of school excitement for us.  This has marked the end of summer / beginning of fall for us for most of our lives.  For us it was extended a bit by grandchildren staying with us, but now we are truly empty nesters.  It is a change.

By now most of you have gotten or contracted for your winter hay.  If not, please do so quickly.  Take the time to ride your horses and work with them before it gets too cold and snowy.  Admittedly, many of you are able to ride during the winter, but those in the mid and upper parts of the country, can’t.  These fall days are the best to ride in.  It is cool enough to take a long ride and not get overheated.

We have officially sold the farm to our youngest daughter and we live in our fifth wheel.  We are on the road and will be making our way south in the next few weeks.  Again another change.

Will we stay on the road?  I don’t know.  I miss the horses, but we will go to lots of horse shows and I can visit everyone else’s horses.

Fall has always been the time I start projects or make changes.  This year is no different.
