Grandpa and Grandsons and an old John Deere

Grandpa and grandkids

Our oldest grandsions would come and spend several weeks each summer on the farm. They lived in the city and the farm was a different lifestyle for them. Here is my husband teaching
them how to run our old John Deere B.

On the farm the boys learned a lot of different skills. They could run the tractor. They learned to ride horses. They learned to can food. They learned to take care of the animals. It was also a time they got to spend with their younger cousins.

Grandpa would teach them how to fix things, how to drive the tractor or the team of horses. Grandma (me) taught them how to can food, bottle feed the calves, take care of gardens.

I am sure there are other things they learned as well. I know they enjoyed the farm because every summer they would beg their mother to stay longerĀ

The time spent with my husband and my grandsons on the farm are among my favorite memories and I hope theirs as well.
